Hi, my names is Jim McKiernan. I am a high school math and science teacher. My lovely wife Maria, and I have two great kids, Britney and Brenden.
I was raised on a farm and enjoyed showing dairy cattle and horses in 4-H. I was very sucessful and represented Michigan at three national competitions. I've always love working with animals, studying perdigrees, and trying improve the next generation.
I attended my first dog show in 1979 while I was still in high school and was hooked. I knew that I wanted to be part of the dog show scene. But knowing I was going away to college, my dog show career was to be put on hold.
In 1997 I purchased a pair of what I was told, were "show quality" pomeranians. Unfortunately, they were not, and we had to restart with better lines. It took some time but, we were able to breed four champion Pomeranians, (understand that our Pom litters were just one or two puppies). I learned a lot working with Poms and met lots of very nice people, but Poms are the "heartbreak breed", and we had our share of problems. The bottom line was that Poms were far to labor intensive for us.
In 2006 my friend Evie Kassabian whelped a litter for one of her buddies. Every time we visited, this little cream bitch would try to come home with us. She was so sweet, we fell in love. Evie and I decided to co-own her, and at the time, we did not see her as a "show girl". Fiona, pictured below, did very well and finished quickly.
Cresteds are a blast! They're such little clowns and they fold up nice on your lap. We're just getting started in this breed, and are excited about developing a breeding program that produces healthy, happy show dogs.

We are striving for the betterment of the breed through very selective breeding of our dogs. Temperment is our priority and we currently test our dogs for PRA and OFA certs.
